LisaRaye McCoy Named “Queen Mother” Of Ghana

Actress LisaRaye McCoy was donned the title of “Queen Mother” of Ghana on Sunday. Her enstoolment ceremony was presided over by King Yahweh of Ghana in Los Angeles. She was handpicked by the paramount chief to preside over the Agona Kwanyanko in the Central region of Ghana, according to Microsoft News.

“Wow! African queen! I’m still trying to let that sink in!” McCoy exclaimed in Blavity. ‘To have such an honor bestowed upon me by own African people is a testament to my hard work and character.”


She was chosen for this regal title because of her humanitarian efforts. According to her website, McCoy has her own foundation holds pageants for young girls and challenges them to build self esteem. She is also a global ambassador for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Circle of Promise.

Queen Mother is not her first royal title. McCoy is the former first lady of Turks and Caicos. During her ambassadorship, she participated in state visits to the Queen of England and worked with the island’s Board of Tourism to establish the island as a destination for entertainers and cinema.
