The “Empowergirlz” Youth Program focuses on empowering and mentoring young girls between the ages of 6-17 with resources needed to complete high school, pursue post-secondary education and become young leaders who are self aware, socially conscious and committed to making the world a better place. 

Advocacy awareness and education are key components within the program which is why we are always honored to participate in the annual “Stop Modern Slavery Walk” in Washington DC. This walk is designed to combat sex trafficking locally, nationally and internationally by bringing together like-minded organizations and individuals that will educate the community on this issue. It’s important that the “Empowergirlz” attend each year because they are exposed to information that could potentially save their life or the life of their peers. The youth participants are able to engage in educational activities from different participating organizations and listen to guest speakers where some are actual survivors.  

“The Department of Justice has listed Washington DC as one of the top 20 human trafficking jurisdiction in the country.” 

“The trafficking of children in Washington DC alone is a $100 million industry.”

Back To The Basic Fitness Tips:

Now, for your exercise program for today Monday and Wednesday of next week… You and I both know there is so much information out here about fitness that it becomes confusing. So, let’s go back to the basics of fitness to move your wellness program forward. Here’s my suggestions:

Move it or lose it (the no-brainer). 30 minutes of exercise daily. I mean at least 30 minutes of pushing your body beyond what it’s used to doing.

Stop putting up with stuff that’s holding you back from being healthy, fit, and energized. Why waste your happiness, health, time, and energy when you don’t need to in the first place? Be willing and committed to being toleration-free. STOP COMPLAINING and get to work on this.

Fruits and veggies. Get five to seven servings of fruits and veggies a day. Not only do they reduce your risk of getting some forms of cancer, they are heart healthy and waistline-friendly.

Simplify your life, immediately. Our lives are too jam-packed with projects, goals, ideas, coulds, shoulds, have-to’s, commitments, concerns, obligations. Start by cutting out 3 projects, tasks, responsibilities, shoulds, coulds, wants, goals, etc. that are not necessary.

Take a multi-vitamin. Your insurance policy to get the nutrition your body craves.

Create and use 10 Daily Habits. There is a daily routine which will keep you focused, clear, motivated, and moving forward – your 10 Daily Habits. These are the things you do each day which make your life better.

Remember your goal is to become Fit and Fabulous. So, work with what you have and it’s all happening right here.

About Katherine 

Katherine who is from Kansas City, Missouri is a dynamic and results-driven individual who works hard to achieve her goals. She currently is a graduate assistant working on her Masters in Sports Administration at the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC).Williams graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.  

She received a full tuition athletic scholarship to run track all her four years while attending UMKC. Williams was an Academic All American and the captain of the track and field team. She attended high school at St. Teresa’s Academy where she ran track and was captain of the team.
