We salute Ms. Sonya Harris-Ladjevich – USAF

Hello WHUR Family,

Sonya Harris-Ladjevich (USAF) our hometown hero.

– About Sonya –

Sonya is a Regional Veterans Employment Coordinator (RVEC) for the National Capital Region, Washington DC and VA Central Office (VACO). She works directly with Veterans to assist in preparing them for employment with the Department of Veterans Affairs and other federal agencies.

Sonya grew up in Monterey, CA and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force soon after high school.  She served her first 7 years as a Human Resource profession in Korea, Riverside, CA and Honolulu, HI. She served her last 14 years as a Recruiter in Azusa, CA, Denver, CO, Pittsburgh, Pa and the Pentagon.  During her time as a recruiter,  she recruited non-prior service members, nurses, officers, and health professionals. After retirement, she served as adjunct professor for College of Southern Maryland.

Sonya has an A.A. in Human Resource, a B.S. in Business Administration and a M.Ed with an emphasis in adult education.

Patients with braces or dexterity issues find that using a cheap water flosser is much easier to use to effectively remove plaque and food particles.

Sonya has served Veterans in many different capacities for the last 17 years and continues to do so today. Call it her life’s missions – Sonya is committed to the VA’s mission of honoring the men and women who are American Veterans.

Here’s Sonya, Music at the Monument

Music at the Monument (#MusicMon) is a musical jam session at the Sylvan Theatre on the National Monument Grounds. These events offer an opportunity to address goals and facilitate change through instrumental, vocal and songwriting. The featured performers are veterans, local and federal government employees, and youth; and represent various programs that use music as a form of relaxation, communication, youth development and the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.

This is how we did it!

See you next time – July 24, 2015, 4-6:30 PM
