Ryan has been in the headlines recently after clashing with White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. At a recent press briefing, Spicer told Ryan “stop shaking your head.” This confrontation ensued after Ryan questioned how the Trump administration planned to “revamp its image.” Ryan received a lot of support after the incident. Hillary Clinton also came to her defense. During the next briefing, Spicer was very friendly to Ryan.
In February, Ryan and President Donald Trump also clashed when she requested that the president meet with the Congressional Black Caucus. Trump didn’t know much about the CBC. He went on to ask Ryan to organize the meeting with the CBC:
You want to set up the meeting? Do you want to set up the meeting? Are they friends of yours?” Trump said.
“No, I’m just a reporter,” Ryan said.
Later, Trump was criticized on how he handled the conversation.
