During Thursday’s “Let’s Make It Better” special, TMG and The Daily Drum with Harold Fisher sought out answers on how to ease tensions between law enforcement and communities around the nation. There were a number of guests who participated in the discussion including Retired MPD Police Officer and Chair of the Police Reform & Accountability Task Force, Ron Hampton.

Ron Hampton WHUR Let's Make It Better

Ron Hampton has extensive knowledge and experience from within the police department. When asked “how do we make it better” in regards to the Department of Justice‘s scathing report of the Baltimore City Police Department, released earlier this week, he said,

The BCPD doesn’t need to be reformed. It needs to be restructured.”

Hampton has been very vocal about his knowledge of corruption in police departments nationwide and admits he has been asked not to speak out against the police. He explains the “culture” doesn’t support police to ‘break the code” to speak out and police nationwide hide behind unions and attorneys for protection.
