Fashion Mogul Kate Spade Found Hanged In Manhattan Apartment

New York, NY – Fashion mogul Kate Spade is dead of an apparent suicide at 55. The designer hanged herself in her Manhattan apartment and was reportedly found by her housekeeper. Spade burst onto the design scene in the early 90s with handbags and eventually expanded her empire to include bedding, china, wallpaper and shoes. She leaves a husband and daughter. Kate Spade was comedian David Spade’s sister-in-law.

White House Issues Statement On Eagles Flap

Washington, DC – The White House says it’s the Philadelphia Eagles fault a scheduled visit was canceled. A statement from Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said today’s event at the White House honoring the Super Bowl champs was scrapped because a “great majority of players” were not going to attend the event. Sanders accused them of abandoning their fans. She said the Eagles event is being replaced by a “celebration of the American flag with Eagles fans.”

Harvey Weinstein Pleads Not Guilty To Sex Abuse Charges

New York, NY – Harvey Weinstein is pleading not guilty to sex abuse charges. The disgraced movie mogul has just been arraigned on charges brought last week by a Manhattan grand jury. Weinstein is accused of raping a woman in 2013 in a Manhattan hotel room and forcing former actress Lucia Evans to perform a sex act in his TriBeca office in 2004. The 66-year-old has been accused by dozens of women and claims he’s never engaged in non-consensual sex.

Miss America Pageant Scraps Bathing Suit Competition

Atlantic City, NJ – The Miss America pageant is getting rid of its swimsuit and evening gown competitions. Instead, the emphasis will be on brains over beauty with contestants urged to wear whatever makes them feel confident. Gretchen Carlson, who chairs the organization’s Board of Trustees, made the announcement on ABC’s “Good Morning America” today, saying that Miss America is no longer a pageant, but a “competition.” Carlson, a former FOX TV anchor who sued Roger Ailes for sexual harassment, says contestants will be asked to showcase their intelligence, passion and understanding of what the job of Miss America requires.
