Trump Cancels Pay Raises For Civilian Federal Workers

(Washington, DC) — President Trump is canceling pay raises across the board for nearly two-million civilian federal workers. In a letter to congressional leaders today, Trump said we must maintain efforts to put our nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and “federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases.” About one-point-eight million people won’t get an automatic pay boost next year following Trump’s move. Most federal workers were set to get a two-point-one-percent increase. The President said raises should be tied to performance.

(Phoenix, AZ) — Former Vice President Joe Biden says Senator John McCain embodied classic American values of decency and respect. At a memorial service for Senator McCain in Phoenix today, Biden described his friend as smart, tough, stubborn and fiercely independent. He noted that McCain hated abuse of power and believed passionately in the soul of America. Democrat Biden said he always considered Republican McCain a brother. He also joked about having a lot of “family fights.” Biden and McCain served in the Senate together for many years.

Ex-Texas Officer Sentenced To 15-Years In Prison For Killing Black Teen

(Dallas, TX) — A former Texas police officer is being sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing an unarmed black teenager. Roy Oliver was found guilty of murder Tuesday for killing 15-year-old Jordan Edwards in a Dallas suburb last year. Edwards was a passenger in a car leaving a party when Oliver fired at the vehicle. Prosecutors wanted Oliver to spend 60 years behind bars, while the defense asked for 20 or less.

Ravens Host Washington In Preseason Finale Tonight

(Baltimore, MD) — The Ravens and Washington wrap up preseason play tonight against one other. They square off at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The starters will see little if any action with the regular season just around the corner. The Ravens are 4-and-0. Washington is 1-and-2.
