Baltimore remains under a “State of Emergency”…

Residents in the neighborhoods affect by last nights riots have begun the clean up process. The riots and violence involving young people followed the funeral of Freddie Gray. The City of Baltimore remains under a “State of Emergency”. The National Guard remains on the ground and very visible. A church bus and a building that was set to house elderly residents were completely destroyed by fire. Tonight begins a week long curfew that will run from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m..

A Prince George’s County Police Officer goes on trial for assaulting a teen …

The Prince George’s County Police Officer accused of assaulting a teen while working as a resource officer at Suitland High School goes on trial today. The incident involving Officer Charles Pickard happened back in 2013.

It’s Election Day in the District…

The polls remain open this hour for two special elections here in the District, to fill the vacant Ward 4 and 8 city council seats. Fifteen candidates are vying to fill Muriel Bowser’s former Ward 4 seat and Sixteen candidates hope to fill the Ward 8 seat of the late Marion Barry. The polls close tonight at 8 p.m..
