A 28-year-old rookie Fire Fighter in DC is fighting for his life this hour. Dane Smothers Jr was hit by a ladder truck while trying to respond to a row house fire on “F” Street in N.E. Two other fire fighters were injured saving the lives of others.

Police are actively searching for 5 suspects wanted in a bold home invasion, kidnapping and robbery. Officials say the suspects broke into the Silver Spring apartment Tuesday night and the held the family hostage until they left Wednesday morning. One victim was stabbed in the neck. That male is expected to survive.
