Appeals Court Decides Hold On Travel Ban Will Continue

A federal appeals court in Virginia is upholding the injunction against President Trump’s revised immigrant travel ban. The injunction blocked enforcement of the travel ban against travelers from predominately Muslim countries. The ruling came today from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond. The travel ban will likely end up in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Lieberman Bows Out Of FBI Director Search

The search for an FBI Director continues after Joe Lieberman removed himself from consideration. In a letter to President Trump, the former Connecticut senator cited concerns about a conflict of interest. He works at the same law firm as the attorney the President is retaining to represent him in the Russia investigation.

Officials Break Ground On New SE DC Elementary

A Southeast DC elementary school is getting a major facelift. Mayor Muriel Bowser, School Commissioner Antwan Wilson, and other officials were on hand this morning to break ground for the new Benjamin Orr Elementary School. Wilson says one of his first goals when he came to DC in February was to give Orr Elementary students a new building. The 47-million-dollar project will bring 26 new classrooms, an outdoor learning space, and multimedia rooms to the school. Construction should be finished by August 2018.

Congressman Cummings Recovering From Heart Procedure

Congressman Elijah Cummings is recovering at Johns Hopkins Hospital after undergoing a minimally invasive heart procedure. The Maryland Democrat and ranking member of the House Oversight Committee had minor surgery Tuesday to correct a narrowing of his aortic valve. He’ll spend a few days in the hospital and plans to resume his normal schedule thereafter.
