Child Porn Charges Against Maryland School Coach

More charges are expected to against substitute teacher in Capitol Heights for possessing and distributing child pornography.  Christopher Speights was arrested yesterday. Authorities confiscated his electronic items, which allegedly contained explicit videos he had uploaded to the internet. Speights was a substitute teacher and basketball coach at Bradbury Heights Elementary School for the last nine years. He has been fired from his position.

Florida State Senator Resigns Over N-Word

Senator Frank Artiles is no longer a member of the Florida Legislature. The South Florida lawmaker who represented the Miami area, stepped down this morning after a three day scandal. Artiles apologized earlier in the week for using a racial slur and a vulgar insult against Jacksonville Senator Audrey Gibson. But constituents, colleagues and Senate leadership said an apology was not enough, which led to Articles submitting his resignation letter this morning.

Prince Remembered One Year After Death

Music fans are remembering Prince on the one-year anniversary of his death. In his home state of Minnesota, the governor has declared it “Prince Day.” The rock icon was found dead of an accidental drug overdose at his Paisley Park complex near Minneapolis on April 21, 2016. Prince was 57. Memorials are planned in Minneapolis, and the I-35W bridge will be lit up in purple tonight in tribute to the musician.
