Councilmembers Call For DCPS Chancellor To Resign

Three DC Councilmembers are calling for the resignation of DC Schools Chancellor Antwan Wilson. “Black Panther” debuted with $361 million in worldwide ticket sales, setting up the $200 million film for a theatrical run that should easily eclipse $1 billion. For Hollywood, inclusion is paying… and often, it’s paying big time.

Accused Florida School Shooter In Court

The accused gunman in last week’s high school shooting in Florida is back in court for an update hearing. It appears that Judge Elizabeth Scherer is allowing some public records that relate to Nikolas Cruz remain sealed. The defense also raised questions as to how much access to Cruz they will have. During the hearing, a stone-faced Cruz, dressed in a red prisoner jump suit, looked down, nodding from time to time as lead defense attorney Melisa McNeill whispered in his ear.

WH: President Open To Improving Background Checks

President Trump is supporting a change to federal gun background checks. The White House said today Trump spoke with Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn and Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy about their bipartisan bill. The White House added discussions with the senators are ongoing and revisions are being considered. The announcement comes after a gunman opened fire at a Florida high school, killing 17 people. Students from the school and lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have called for Congress to act on current gun laws.
