DC Police crack the 8-year-old missing person case of Pamela Butler, suspect due in court today…
After almost a decade, the family of a DC woman might finally be a step closer to justice. EPA analyst Pamela Butler disappeared eight years ago and is believed to be dead. Ex-boyfriend Jose Rodriguez-Cruz was arrested over the weekend in Arlington and is charged with first-degree murder. DC Police credit the cold case unit for making the arrest and believe Butler’s death is a case of domestic violence.
DC Police investigate a number of shootings in the city overnight…
Police are investigating a series of overnight shootings in the District. Authorities say the first incident occurred in the 13-hundred block of Southern Avenue, SE around 9:15 last night. Less than 20 minutes later, a man was shot multiple times in the 61-hundred block of Eastern Avenue, NE. The final shooting happened around 11:00 in the 38-hundred block of Minnesota Avenue, SE. All three victims are expected to survive. Police do not believe the crimes are related.
Gorsuch is officially sworn in…
Neil Gorsuch formally joins the U.S. Supreme Court today. He’ll take his oath privately at the high court, and then in a public ceremony at the White House. Gorsuch was confirmed Friday after contentious debate in the Senate and a rules change allowing his approval on a simple majority. He replaces Justice Antonin Scalia, who died more than a year ago.
