U.S. Education Secretary looking at funding guns for teachers…

The country’s Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is raising eye brows nationally. The New York Times is reporting that DeVos is looking at using federal educational funds to purchase guns for teachers.

Now under current law that is prohibited however a loop hole has been found in the program known as the Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grant. Under this grant DeVos could use her own discretion to determine how the funds are used. Reportedly, if approved she would use the money to train teachers on how to use a weapon in school and to purchase guns for teachers.

Earlier this year the House passed a school safety bill which will provide $50 million dollars a year to local school districts, it follows the massing shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018, that killed 17 people.
