DC Mayor delivers State of the District address…
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is set to deliver the State of the District Address at 6:30 tonight. During the event which will be held at The University of the District of Columbia, Mayor Bowser is expected to talk about her administration’s accomplishments and her plans for the future. The door open to the public at the Theatre of Arts at 5 pm.
DC woman makes first court appearance in U.S. Capitol Police incident…
It’s court day for the woman who crashed into a police cruiser and drew gunfire outside the US Capitol. Officials say the suspect was fleeing a traffic stop when she careened into the cruiser around 9:20 a.m. yesterday on Independence Avenue, Southwest. Law enforcement sources identify the woman as Taleah Everett of no fixed address. Her family tells News-4 the 20-year-old is mentally ill. Everett is charged with seven counts of assault on a police officer, among other charges.
A Senate Committee holds an open hearing on Russian probe…
The Senate Intelligence Committee will hold a rare, open hearing today on the Russia investigation. Virginia Democrat Mark Warner, co-chair of the Senate panel, said Russia is an “outside adversary” that tried to influence the American election and called it chilling. FBI Director James Comey recently said Russia tried to help Donald Trump because of a distaste for Hillary Clinton. Republican chairman Richard Burr said seven full-time investigators have been assigned to the investigation.
