George H.W. Bush Funeral Is Today, DC Lawmakers Decriminalize Metro Fare Evaders

George H.W. Bush funeral is today…

Funeral services for former President George H.W. Bush is taking place right now at National Cathedral. The ceremony for the war veteran and the nations 41st President is private.

Later his flag-draped casket will travel through the streets of DC in route to Joint Base Andrews. He will be flown back to his home state of Texas. Bush will lie in repose at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston. There will another memorial service for him tomorrow at 11.

A motorcade will take his body to his presidential library in College Station where he will be laid next to his wife Barbara of 73 years.

DC Police looking for missing teen…

The MPD is looking for a missing teen. 14-year-old Jonathan Crowder was last seen on Monday. He was in the 35-hundred block of Clay Street.

Crowder is five-foot-six and about 130 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue coat and gray pants with a black headband on. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact police.

DC lawmakers decriminalize Metro fare evaders…

Tuesday DC lawmakers voted in favor to decriminalize Metro fare evaders. They approved making it a civil offense with a fine of $50. Previously, violators faced jail time and a fine up to $300 dollars. Supporters of the bill say the law disproportionately targeted black riders.

The City Council also voted in favor of an amendment to add Howard University to the planning process for the new hospital coming to Southeast. A final vote on the East End Health Equity Act will be held on December 18th.
