Howard University Clears Gunman Threat

Howard University says there is no active shooter on campus. School officials say they received an anonymous threat this morning of a potential gunman. The school’s main administration building was evacuated and students were asked to shelter in place. DC police swept all buildings on campus and the threat was cleared. Howard University is celebrating its 150th anniversary and homecoming this week.

Hate Crime Indictment For U. of Md Student

A Prince George’s County grand jury has indicted a white University of Maryland student accused of killing a Bowie State University student. 22-year-old Sean Urbanski is accused of stabbing 23-year-old Richard Collins III back in May.  Collins was just days from graduating and receiving his U.S. Army commission as a 2nd Lieutenant .

Judge Blocks President Trump’s Latest Travel Ban Order

Just hours before it’s set to take effect, a federal judge in Hawaii is blocking President Trump’s latest travel ban. U.S. District Court Judge Derrick Watson granted a temporary restraining order today. The judge concluded the Trump administration appeared to run afoul of federal immigration law. The administration issued a proclamation last month restricting travel to the U.S. by citizens of eight countries. The order sought by the state of Hawaii, a Muslim cleric and others came hours before a new directive was set to kick in at midnight.

Dozens Rally Against NFL Owners In Lower Manhattan

(New York, NY) — Protesters are carrying signs and chanting outside of the NFL owner’s meetings in New York City. Dozens of activists chanted in support of players who kneel during the National Anthem. Team owners are reportedly meeting today to discuss several issues, including if the policy concerning kneeling should change. NFL free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first player to kneel during the anthem last year. He’s filed a grievance against the league for allegedly colluding against him.
