Hurricane Maria makes landfall in Puerto Rico…

Hurricane Maria made landfall this morning in Puerto Rico. The category 4 storm is pounding the island with 155 mph winds and 8 feet high surges. It’s expected to hit the Dominica Republic on Thursday and Turks and Cacaos on Friday.

DC hosts Youth Opportunity Fair…

The District is hosting a Youth Opportunity Fair today. This free fair at the Washington Convention Center runs from 9 to 3 pm today for residents between the ages of 16 and 24 years old. It’s apart of the Mayor’s 100,000 Opportunity Initiative.

A DC dies after calling for a ride share vehicle …

Friends and family are mourning the death of Talatia Williams. She’s the woman who used a ride share company to pick her up from work on Saturday and to take her home. Enroute the vehicle she was in was hit head-on by a pickup truck. Williams died. The driver of Williams vehicle and the pickup truck driver remain in the hospital in serious condition. The cause has not been determined and no charges have been filed in the case.
