Fairfax Mayor To Resign This Week

Fairfax Mayor Richard “Scott” Silverthorne is expected to resign this week. Silverthorne will be arraigned on Wednesday for allegedly giving methamphetamine to an undercover detective in exchange for sex. He tells NBC News 4 he will step down on Thursday at noon. Councilman Jeff Greenfield has been appointed acting mayor.

Trump Promises Renewal For America In Economic Policy Speech

Donald Trump is promising he will renew America’s economy if he becomes President. In a speech outlining his economic policy, the GOP presidential nominee called for a moratorium on federal regulations and “returning to a government that puts the American people first.” The speech at the Detroit Economic Club was interrupted several times by protesters and they were quickly escorted from the hall. Trump called for across-the-board income tax reductions, especially for middle-income Americans.

Clinton Leads In Virginia, Trails Narrowly In 2 Southwest States

Hillary Clinton is neck and neck with Donald Trump in two Southwest states and is blowing out the Republican presidential nominee in Virginia. The latest CBS News Battleground Tracker shows the Democratic nominee up 49-37 in Virginia. It’s a state President Obama turned blue in 2008 for the first time since 1964. In Nevada, Clinton is within the margin of error trailing Trump 43-41. The lead is also two for Trump in Arizona at 44-42.

Over 400 Delta Flights Canceled After System Outage

It continues to be a frustrating day for Delta Air Lines customers. Following this morning’s system outage, the airline says it has now cancelled over 400 flights. Delta grounded flights worldwide early this morning when a power outage caused computer systems to fail. Delta says it’s operating close to 16-hundred of its nearly six-thousand scheduled flights.
