The GOP clinches both chambers of Congress following the 2014 Midterm Election

The Republican Party won big in yesterday’s Midterm Election.  The party won 7 Senate seats, giving them control of that chamber of Congress.  They even picked up additional seats in the House, which they currently have control of.  Friday GOP leaders will meet with President Obama to outline their agenda.

Voters in Maryland choose a Republican Governor

At 11 Maryland’s New Republican Governor Elect —Larry Hogan will announce his transition team.  Hogan’s 54% to 45% victory over Democrat Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown was a huge upset. Hogan will become the first Republican Governor of the state of Maryland in five decades.

DC elects their first female mayor in two decades

 

District residents have elected the first female Mayor in 20 years.  Muriel Bowser had more votes than all of her challengers combined.  The District will now have to set up a special election to fill her Ward 4 city council seat.

There’s new evidence in the search for an abducted Philadelphia woman

There’s a Maryland connection to the woman abducted Sunday from Philadelphia.  Detectives say the stolen ATM card of 22-year-old Carlesha Freeland-Gaithers was used Tuesday morning at a gas station mini mart in Aberdeen, Maryland.  There’s a $42-thousand dollar reward in this case for her safe return.
