Reports:  Professor Killed Another Professor In Mississippi Campus Shooting

There are reports the professor killed at Delta State University in Mississippi was shot by another professor.  Authorities say the suspected gunman killed history professor Ethan Schmidt and is no longer on campus.  Police are reportedly also looking into whether the suspect murdered a woman in Jackson County, Mississippi.  The university is located in Cleveland, about 25 miles east of the Arkansas border.  Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are involved in the hunt for the shooter.

Ferguson Report Released, Recommends Statewide Database

The Ferguson Commission is recommending the creation of a statewide database to track police shootings.  That’s just one suggestion in a nearly 200-page report released online today.  The Commission was created in the wake of the deadly Michael Brown shooting.  The report will be presented today to Governor Nixon.

Empowerment Temple Pastor Launches Bid For Congress

The man who led a protest that shut down a major artery into Baltimore after Freddie Gray’s death is running for Congress.  Pastor Jamal Bryant from the westside’s Empowerment Temple AME Church announced this morning that he’s launching a bid for the 7th District seat currently held by Congressman Elijah Cummings.  The native Baltimorean says he wants to bring to Capitol Hill a new voice and perspective to the issues affecting urban residents.
