DC Water Advisory

A “do not drink” water advisory is in effect for customers in the Shaw area of Northwest. DC Water is checking into a report of a petroleum-like smell. You can still wash your clothes, but customers in the Logan Circle area should not drink the water and brushing their teeth until further notice.

Maryland Man Back Home from Captivity in Cuba

Allan Gross is spending his first night home with his family in Potomac, Maryland after 5 years in prison in Cuba. His release came today after the Obama administration and members of congress negotiated a prisoner swap. His release signals a softening of US-Cuba relations, including easing some restrictions on travel and trade.

A Kick Forward for DC United

Today the DC Council gave final approval to building a new soccer stadium at Buzzard Point. The new stadium will seat 20-25 thousand fans. DC United could be out of RFK Stadium and play in its new arena by 2017.

After a long and accomplished broadcast television career, WHUR news reporter Molette Green has returned to WHUR News where she started as a college intern in 1991. Currently she anchors the news during The Steve Harvey Morning Show and The Daily Drum. Upon graduating from Howard Magna **** Laude, Molette spent the next several years on camera as a reporter and an anchor. The Washington native enjoys covering events in her hometown. She’s collected several awards and accolades including the 2003 Salute to Professional African American Women and the 2001 Washington’s Finest Single Professional. Molette resides in Maryland with her husband Rickey and two daughters.
