A 3 day heat wave begins…

Today kicks off a 3 day heat wave, the first for this year in our listening area. We are looking for High’s in the mid to upper 90’s with high humidity as well. We will also be placed under a code Orange Air Quality Alert.

The U.S. is sending more troops to Iraq…

The U.S. is sending 450 more U.S. Troops to Iraq. The men and woman will only train Iraqi soldiers and they will not take part in any ground fighting of ISIS rebels. It’s something that is not sitting well with some lawmakers.

DC’s Mayor takes a stand on synthetic marijuana, giving police more power to shut down businesses in the process…

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is set to sign a bill today that will give police the power to temporarily shutdown businesses found selling synthetic marijuana. The drugs that often go by the names of Scooby Snax, Spice & K2 target kids. This decision follows multiple overdoses last week.

New chilling details in the NW Mansion murders are released…

Court documents released this morning state what police found when they entered the mansion of the Savopoulos family last month in NW. A bloody baseball bat was found in the room were three bodies were discovered. Savvas Savopoulus had been hit several times in the head and his wife, Amy had cuts to her throat. The families 10 year old son and their maid were also found in the home last month. Only one person has been charged in the case thus far, Daron Wint, but detectives believe he did not act alone. Investigators are still looking into Savopoulos’ driver.

Growing up in a military family, Taylor Thomas lived overseas until she was 16 years old. She called places such as Great Britain and the Philippines home. For a time, Taylor even spoke with a British accent. Well now she resides in the DC area and for the past three years has worked as the news anchor for The Steve Harvey Morning Show on WHUR. Recently, Taylor has adopted the Washington Redskins as her most loved pro sports team.
