DC Mayor and Police Chief prepare to hold a news conference to take media questions…

Mayor Bowser & Police Chief Lanier plan a 10:30 news conference at Police Headquarters, to answer questions from the media.  The leaders expect to address questions regarding the uptick in violence.  Over the Labor Day weekend police were called to three separate shootings, that injured 8 people people, one fatally. The shootings bring the city’s homicide rate to 109 for the year.

Two charged in connection to last weeks huge synthetic drug bust appear in court…

A detention hearing is set for the two men charged last week with the largest synthetic drug bust in DC Police history. The men who were connected with a storage facility in NW with 19,000 bags of a drug called “Bizzaro” face up to 20 years in prison, if found guilty of all the charges.

The largest school system in our area starts the fall semester ….

School is officially back in session for all area school systems today. This morning students in Northern Virginia started the fall semester. In Fairfax County teachers will see a 3.1%pay raise and students in middle and high school will start classes later.
