The Pontiff takes over the District today, first stop the White House…

The South Lawn of the White House will be the scene of this morning 9:15 special Welcome Ceremony for Pope Francis. He will speak to 15,000 invited guests. Then he will go behind doors and talk with President Obama. At 11 the Pontiff will take part in a parade down 17 th Street, to Constitution Avenue, up 15 th Street and back down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. At 4:15 the Pope will canonize a Saint at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

DC records its 116th homicide of the year…

DC police still have not released the name of the city’s 116 th homicide victim. The shooting happened last night on “V” Street in N.W. and one person has been taken into custody.

Time is quickly running out to avert a Gov’t shutdown…

Four days and counting, that’s how many legislative days are left for lawmakers to come up with a spending deal or the Government will have to shutdown at the end of the month. At issue, some GOP leaders do not support government money being used to fund Planned Parenthood.
