3 DC schools closure because of water ban

DC School officials have decided to close Cleveland, Seaton and Garrison Elementary Schools as a result of a “Do Not Drink” water advisory by DC Water. Duke Ellington High School is also being affected. This morning only the Myer’s Campus will be open for students.

DC Water tells residents “Do Not Drink” the water

DC Water officials have issued a “Do Not Drink” the water advisory for thousands of residents living in N.W. this following numerous complaints of the water smelling like gasoline. It’s unclear of what’s causing the problem. Overnight crews have been flushing the water system to no avail. The advisory applies to residents North and East of Logan Circle in NW. Residents should not bath in the water. They can however water plants, flush or wash clothing.

Another rape this week in NW prompts police to hold a public meeting tonight

DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier has called for a 7pm public meeting tonight to inform the public about a recent rash of robberies and rapes in the Petworth area. The most recent attack happened on Tuesday at the corner of 13th and Quincy Streets in NW. Tonight’s meeting will be held at the Raymond Recreation Center.
