No Powerball Jackpot winners locally, several million dollar winners…

The Powerball Jackpot winners were in three states one in Florida, one in California and the other in Tennessee. Locally, we had three $1 million dollar winners in Maryland, in Capitol Heights, Bladensburg and Frederick and two $1 million dollar winners in Salem and Virginia Beach, Va. In DC there were two $50,000 winners.

DC leaders hold a hearing on paid family leave…

The DC City Council is set to hold a hearing this morning at 10:30 on a historic 16 week paid family leave program. Among other things leaders will discuss the impacts if the bill is approved. As it stands now the plan calls for businesses to foot the bill with an up to 1% increase in payroll taxes.

9 Metro workers fired for stealing…

Nine Metro employee’s have been fired and arrested for stealing from the agency. Officials say the 7 managers and 2 custodians from 4 stations were allegedly collecting paper fare cards from customers and allowing them to leave through emergency gates without pay. They would then add the paper fare amount to smart cards and resell it for a discount. It’s unclear just how much this crime has cost the agency.
