Frigid temperatures delay the start of classes for thousands this morning

Several area schools systems opted to start classes late this morning as temperatures this morning only go up to 12 degree’s. Prince George’s, Anne Arundel and Howard County schools in Maryland had a two hour delayed start. In Virginia, Arlington, Alexandria, Fauquier, Manassas Park, Culpeper and Prince William county schools opened two hours late. Closed today were schools in Fairfax, Loudoun and Frederick county Virginia.

UVA suspect in the Hannah Graham case is due in court today

A Fairfax County Judge will hear arguments for and against having camera’s in the courtroom for the rape trial of Jessie Matthew. Matthew is also the suspect connected in the disappearance of UVA student Hannah Graham. Matthew rape trial stems from a 2005 attack. It’s set to start in March.

U.S. Olympic Committee set to announce what US city will compete for the 2024 games

We will soon find out if The District of Columbia will compete against international cities to host the 2024 Olympics. The U.S. Olympic Committee in Denver plan to make their decision known later today. Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston are also competing for the nod.
