No schools today, Federal Gov’t closed too…

No school again for children in the entire WHUR listening area. The Federal Government is also closed today for non essential employee’s. DC Mayor Muriel Bowser says progress is being made and DC Public School will be open tomorrow.
Again today free breakfast and lunch will be provided for students at 10 area schools
from 10 to 2p today.

Hundreds of DC vehicles towed….

The District remains under a snow emergency. The city has towed 500 cars and later today the Blue Plains Impound lot is expected to reopen to allow people to get their cars.DC courts open at 10 and the DC Housing Authority opens 2 hours late.

Prince George’s County making progress with the snow…

95% of the main roads in Prince George’s County are passable says Officials for the Department of Public Works continue to work 12 hour shift to plow the snow and treat the ice. 95% of the main roads and 40% of neighborhood roads are passable. The county’s TheBus is running on a limited service today. Residents can call 3-1-1 to make a snow removal request.

VDOT focuses on residential streets…

VDOT crews continue to work around the clock to plow secondary streets. Officials are asking residents for patients, sighting problems with equipment and manpower. It could be a few days before very neighborhood street is plowed.
