School officials close Frederick H.S. and West Frederick Middle following last nights school shooting

School officials have decided to cancel classes today at Frederick High School and West Frederick Middle School following last night’s shooting during a JV basketball game at Frederick High. A 14 year old male student was shot in the back and a 15 year old student was shot in the leg outside of the gym. Their injuries are non life threatening. Investigators say they are looking for as many as four suspects who may have been involved in the incident.

The DC City Council looks into whether the city is prepared for a major emergency on metro rail

Later today members of the DC City Council will gather for a hearing on just how prepared is the city to handle an emergency on our subway system. This discussion follows the January 12th smoke death of a passenger on the yellow line at L’Enfant Plaza. The probe is not expected to generate any new information about this incident but they want to review Metro’s emergency plan and the city’s’ emergency response plans.

Attempted murder charges filed against the dump truck driver who rammed two Prince George’s County Police cruisers

Formal charges have been filed against 31 year old Gene Thomas Brandon Jr for the January 7th incident in the Glenarden Shopping Center parking lot. Brandon pushed the vehicles some 50 feet. The officers who were standing next to their vehicles talking surprisingly were not injuries. Police have not released a motive in the case.
