The Metro slowly returns to normal today….

The Federal Government opened up on time this morning. DC Public Schools and schools in Montgomery County also opened on time this morning. We had several delays and closures. Closed today are schools in Charles, Calvert, Culpepper, Fairfax, Fauquier and Frederick County Va Schools. On a 2 hour delay are schools in Prince George’s, Arlington, Alexandria and Anne Arundel county.

9 new speed and stop sign camera’s are turned on in DC…

Starting today there are 9 news traffic light and stop sign camera’s in the District. Two of the camera’s will ticket people who fail to completely stop at stop signs at Eastern Avenue at North Gate Road in Northwest and 27th Street at “R” Street in S.E. The traffic light camera’s are along Reno Road in NW, Alaska Ave. in NW, N.Capitol Street in NE, Eastern Ave. in NE and Massachusetts Ave. in S.E and Minnesota Ave. in NE. A 30 day grace period begins today for violators.

Suspect in UVA murder case of Hannah Graham is due in court…

Jessie Matthew has an arraignment hearing today in the murder of UVA student Hannah Graham. Matthew is expected to appear via videolink, because he is sitting in a Fairfax County jail awaiting trail for a 2005 rape of a woman there.

Carjackers steal an SUV in S.E. with a toddler inside…

Police in DC are looking for two suspects wanted for last nights carjacking of an SUV in the 47 hundred block of 2nd Street in S.E. The male driver was shoved to the ground and the vehicle taken. The child and the vehicle were found about 15 minutes after it was reported stolen. The child was not harmed.
