The entire WHUR listening area is under a “Winter Weather Advisory” until NOON. We could see anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of snow when it stops. We have multiple reports of slick conditions out on the roads.

Dozens of schools systems are closed due to the weather…

The following school systems have decided to cancel classes today because of
the snow, frigid temperatures this morning. Prince George’s, Montgomery, Anne Arundel, Frederick County Maryland and Virginia, Charles, St. Mary’s, Calvert, Fairfax, Arlington, Culpeper, Prince William, Fauquier and Loudoun county schools.
DC and Alexandria public schools are opening 2 hours late today.

The Federal Government is open for business today…

OPM is reporting that the Federal Government will be open today, but on a 2 hour delay. Employee’s can take an unscheduled leave or tele work.

Pot is now legal in the District of Columbia…

It is now legal for DC residents 21 years old or older can now posses up to 2 ounces of marijuana, share it and smoke it on their private property. Residents can also grow up to 6 plants. Initiative 71 went into effect at the stroke of midnight. It is important to note that you can not smoke marijuana on public or federal property and it is still illegal to sell or buy marijuana in the District of Columbia.
