More school delays today….

The concern about icy road conditions prompted a few area school systems to delay the start of classes this morning. Prince George’s, Fredericksburg, Virginia, Prince William and Spotsylvania county schools have a 2 hour delay.

There’s still “NO” DHS spending deal….

Congressional leaders are taking the Department of Homeland Security funding issue down to the wire. The deadline for lawmakers to come up with a budget before a partial government shutdown of the security agency is tonight a midnight. Right now, Senate GOP leaders are considering a 3 week budget extension. It’s unclear if leaders in the House will approve it.

A massive trash removal campaign has begun in DC…

The District of Columbia has begun a massive trash collection blitz this morning. The Department of Public Works began just after 6 salting and clearing alleys of snow and ice. The agency has hired contractors to help. Officials expect to have all residential trash picked up within the next 72 hours.
