More closures and delays today due to the weather….

The Federal Government will be open today. OPM says offices will open up two hours late today due to weather conditions. Employee’s have the option of using an unscheduled leave or telework. All area public schools in the WHUR listening area are closed again today.

DC is set to lift is “Snow Emergency” alert…

At 9:30 the Districts “Snow Emergency” will be lifted. That means drivers can park along snow emergency routes without fear of being ticketed and towed. It also means tax cabs will no longer at a $15 snow emergency surcharge.

DC prepares to honor the late Marion Barry…

Later today DC Mayor Muriel Bowser will announce the creation of a commission to look into how the city can honor the former Mayor & Ward 8 Council member Marion Barry. Today’s 10:30 press conference will be held outside his home in Southeast. Today Barry would have turned 79.

Tomorrow marks the 50 Anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” find out what the President is planning…

Tomorrow marks the 50th Anniversary of the day known as “Bloody Sunday”. When African Americans protesting the right to vote planned to march from Selma to Montgomery. The group of citizens, preachers, mothers and young people were brutally beaten by angry police as they tried to cross the Edmond Pettus Bridge. Tomorrow President Obama will deliver a speech from the historic bridge.

Howard University holds Chartered Day Convocation and Inauguration celebrations…

The 148th Chartered Day Convocation and the inauguration of Dr. Wayne Frederick, the 17th President of Howard University will be held this morning. We will have a special broadcast of the ceremony starting at 10 this morning from Cramton Auditorium. You can also see it live via video stream at whur.com.
