DC New Mayor starts of the year talking statehood

DC’s New Mayor Muriel Bowser is expected to join DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes-Norton and other city leaders for a 10:30 press conference on Capitol Hill about DC Statehood. Leaders want lawmakers to restore the Districts voting rights on the House floor.

Former Washington NFL player appears for domestic violence charge

Former Washington NFL star cornerback Fred Smoot is back in the headlines, this time is not about what he on the football field but what he allegedly did behind closed doors. Smoot is due for a 10am domestic assault trail in Loudoun County. The charges stem from an incident reported last year by his then girlfriend, Valerie Johnson. She posted on instagram pictures of the bathroom door she said he smashed trying to get to her and images of bruises and marks she said he put on her. Smoot denies the claims and says he has and he would never hit a woman.

The sports world mourns the loss of one of their own

Sports fans and athlete’s are mourning the loss of ESPN Anchor Stewart Scott. The 49 year old commentator lost his battle with Cancer yesterday. He had been battling it for some 8 years. He leaves behind two daughters, ages 15 and 19.

Growing up in a military family, Taylor Thomas lived overseas until she was 16 years old. She called places such as Great Britain and the Philippines home. For a time, Taylor even spoke with a British accent. Well now she resides in the DC area and for the past three years has worked as the news anchor for The Steve Harvey Morning Show on WHUR. Recently, Taylor has adopted the Washington Redskins as her most loved pro sports team.
