Amtrak resumes full service along Northeast corridor…

Full service has resumed for Amtrak along the Northeast corridor. They have also installed positive train control in train that will travel along the route. This device will automatically slow a train down in the area of the derailment. 20 passengers remain in the hospital, 5 of which are in critical condition.

Police shut down a large section of MLK Jr. Hwy in Glenarden to investigate a murder…

A police investigation involving a man found shot to death in a car on Reed Street in Glenarden has a large section of MLK Jr. Hwy. closed between Johnson Avenue and Ardwick Ardmore Road. The victim has not been identified.

Montgomery County’s top pick to lead the school system says he’s no longer interested…

The Montgomery County School Boards top choice to lead the school system has announced he’s no longer interested. Dr. Andrew Houlihan of Houston County Public Schools made his feelings known on Saturday. The board will resume the search for a new leader this morning.
