Several Cooling Centers open in the DMV…

Several cooling centers open up today because of the hot temperatures expected today and most of the week. In the District you can go to One Judiciary Square, King Office Building, Reeves Center or Virginia Williams Shelter for Families. In Prince George’s County you can go to Show Place Arena, Curry Sports & Learning Complex or the Camp Springs Glassmanor Community Center. In Montgomery County the cooling sites are located at Richard Montgomery H.S and White Oak Recreation Center. In Virginia, residents can go to the following locates to cool off Cora Kelly Recreation Center, Beatley Central Library and Barrett Library.

DC Mayor Bowser holds a press conference to announce a new strategy against drugs…

DC Mayor Bowser and DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier are holding a press conference to announce a new strategy against drugs in the city. The plan call for a focus on the drug suppliers instead of the low level users. The Mayor is also expected to give police the power to temporarily shut down businesses found selling synthetic drugs.

The embattled President of the Spokane, Washington Chapter of the NAACP decides to cancel today’s scheduled meeting…

Today’s scheduled meeting with embattled head of the Spokane, Washington Chapter of the NAACP has been canceled. Rachel Dolezal was suppose to answer to questions that she is lying about being African American. Dolezal who is actually white, says she is still in talks with regional and national NAACP Officials about the matter.
