A $6 million dollar settlement is reached in Freddie Gray case…

There’s been a major development in the Freddie Gray murder case. The
“Washington Post” is reporting this hour that the City of Baltimore has reached a $6.4 million dollar settlement with the Gray family. This decision still requires additional approval from city board of estimates but it comes as the judge prepares to decide this week if the cases will be tried locally and before the family filed for compensation. The settlement also requires officers to start wearing body camera’s.

DC Mayor and Chief of Police hold a media press conference…

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and DC Police Chief Kathy Lanier held a media press conference this morning ahead of their monthly schedule gun stats closed door meeting. Chief Lanier defended the Mayor’s current decision to go after repeat offenders after siting the number of repeat offenders that have been arrested in connection with current crimes and homicides. Chief Lanier stated that 52% of the homicide suspect had a prior gun related arrest.

It was a pretty smooth start of school in Northern Virginia…

Over 200,000 students started the fall semester in Northern Virginia. In Fairfax County teachers will see a 3.1%pay raise and students in middle and high school will start classes later.
