The Pope delivers a powerful speech to Congress…

Pope Francis … he’s all the the talk this morning and today he leaves our area for New York before heading to Philadelphia. earlier this hour he spoke before a joint session of Congress and he touched upon immigration, the tradition family and about mother earth. He reminded lawmakers that they have an important job to defend the dignity of the citizens that they represent for the good of all mankind. He also reminded the world not to be afraid of immigrants but to embrace them. He’s now wrapping up feeding the homeless at St. Patrick Catholic Charities. The Pontiff leaves Joint Base Andrews at 4 this afternoon. there will be numerous rolling street closures as he returns to the Vatican Embassy on Massachusetts Avenue and then to Andrews.

Lawmakers in Maryland have put an end to the practice of shackling juvenile appear in court. Now under the change to the law, a judge will still discretion to do so if he or she has reason for safety concerns. Maryland joins 21 other states and the District of Columbia that have removed this practice from the books.
