King Holiday Celebrations…

Today’s The 30th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, a day of service. Right now WHUR is hosting our annual Dr. King Day of dialog and music. This free event is being held at First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Upper Marlboro. There will be a special performance by Bishop Hezekiah Walker. Earlier this morning there was the annual wreath laying ceremony at the King National Memorial, followed by a peace walk and parade in S.E..

No arrest in triple shooting in Falls Church …

There’s been no arrest in this mornings triple shooting at State Theatre in Falls Church, Va. This is Police Chief Mary Gavin who says shots rang out as a large crowd was leaving the venue. The injuries to the three men were non life threatening.

Hundreds of Reagan National Airport take to the streets to bring attention to their demand for better pay…

Later today some 200 workers from Reagan National Airport will join airport workers in 6 other cities in an act of civil disobedience to demand a pay increase of $15 an hour. Locally workers plan to take to the streets and block traffic starting at Independence Avenue near the MLK Memorial. They will make their way to Kutz Bridge were they are expected to block traffic there.
