Winter Weather Advisory issued tonight for our listening area…

The weather is topping our news, a Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect tonight from 6 pm to Midnight. A Blizzard Watch has been issued for the entire WHUR listening area starting at Noon on Friday until 6 pm on Sunday. Local forecasters are calling for snow totals up to 18 inches and wind gust up to 30 mph. Keep it on WHUR for live reports on the weather conditions and closures.

DC Mayor’s released the city plan to deal with the snow…

The District is ready for the this weekends snow event. Earlier this morning DC Mayor Muriel Bowser discussed the city plan to pre-treat and clear the snow. An additional 14 snow and salt trucks have been added to the city’s fleet. 2,000 volunteer snow shoveler’s will be given free shovels outside of the Reeves Center.

Montgomery County residents get to way in on $4.4 (B) 2017 Budget…

Tonight Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett wants to hear from you about his proposed 2017 budget plan that includes $1.9 (B) for education and 192 (M) for the Purple Line. Tonight is the first of 3 public meetings on the proposal. The meeting will be held at the Silver Spring Regional Center.
