Mayor Bowser delivers another snow clean up update…

We are awaiting the start of DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s news conference updating residents on the city’s snow removal process. Yesterday, the Mayor said DC Public schools should reopen. She also reminded residents that we still remain under a “Snow Emergency” which means vehicles parked along those routes face being ticketed and towed. 500 vehicles have been towed and some 3,000 tickets issued.

Metro is back up…

Metro bus and rail service are slowing getting back to normal. Metro bus is on a “Severe” plan. Metro rail is only running every 12 minutes. There will be no service on the Silver Line.

Secondary streets are the focus for Prince George’s County…

The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation are continuing 12 hour shifts. Most main roads have been plowed. It’s the secondary roads that are of concern with only 40% that are passable. You can call 3-1-1 to place a snow removal call.

VDOT is asking for patients….

VDOT is asking residents in Virginia to be patient. Officials say it may be a few days before crews will be able to reach every neighborhood. Today crews are working 12 hours shifts in communities to clear the roads of the snow and treat other area’s for ice.

NTSB release report on the deadly Amtrak train derailment back in May…

Later today the NTSB will release a report on the Amtrak train derailment that killed 8 people last May in Philadelphia. Several suites have been filed against Amtrak as a result of that accident.
