An arrest is made in the Ft. Washington mother and toddler murders…

We have breaking news in the horrific murder of a young mother and her toddler in Ft. Washington on Tuesday. The father of the toddler Durron Johnson has been arrested for both murders. The shooting death of 26 year old Neshante Davis and their 2 year old daughter, Chloe. We have learned this morning that Davis had just been award child support after proving who the child’s father was. The mother was found shot outside of her vehicle in front of her Ft. Washington home. The toddler was shot at least once as she sat strapped into her car seat.

2nd Va Tech suspect due for bail hearing in murder of 13 year old girl…

A bail hearing is set for today for the second Virginia Tech student charged with taking part in the stabbing death of a 13 year old girl. Authorities now believe Natalie Keepers had more to do with the crime then first thought, additional charges have been filed against her. Investigators say 18 year old Virginia Tech student David Eisenhauer met the 13 year old victim on the app Kik and lured her to leave her home and meet him.

DC leaders unveil their plan to extend the school year for some schools…

Right now, at Hart Middle School in S.E., DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and School Chancellor Kia Henderson are unveiling their plans to extend the school year for a select number of schools. The goal is to close the achievement gap among students, it will begin during the 2016-2017 school year. The schools on the list are primarily in Wards 7 & 8.

The President visits his first mosque…

President Barack Obama is set to make his first visit to a mosque today. The President will do so in Baltimore as a way to show the important role that Muslim-Americans play in our society. The White House notes that ISIS has been targeting vulnerable Muslims and making them feel that they are not apart of the American culture.
