Two are dead following an attempted robbery in District Heights…

We have new details in this mornings targeted double shooting in District Heights. Prince George’s County authorities say 2 people were shot & killed inside of a vehicle during an attempted robbery at Aztec Drive & Gateway Blvd. There’s still no word on a suspect.

New charges have been filed against a former Charleston Police Officer accused of shooting a black motorist…

Just moments ago, new Federal Civil Rights charges were filed against former Charleston, S.C. Police Officer Michael Slager in the death of a black motorist in 2015. A judge will now decide if the 34 year old will remain free on bond. Slager’s trial involving the murder of Walter Scott is set to begin in October. The Scott family settled a civil suit with the city for $6.5 million dollars.

The FTA has given Metro a deadline to make sure all employee’s complete their safety training…

Metro has until May 16th to make sure all employee’s finish their safety trainings. That’s according to Federal Transit Secretary Anthony Foxx. Metro GM Paul Wiedefeld who met with the agency’s 650 managers yesterday said they know there jobs are on the line. The head of the FTA has also warned Metro that they will
shutdown the entire system if safety problems are not immediately addressed.
