One of the Districts oldest and largest charter school has been ordered to close

Earlier this morning the DC Public Charter School Board voted unanimously to revoke the charter of The Dorothy I. Height Community Academy Public Charter School. The decision affects 16-hundred students and 300 teachers at four campuses. Students have until March 2nd to apply for the city’s school lottery. The closure follows allegations that the schools founder Ken Amos was diverting funds into a management company for his own financial gain.

Police get a break in this months deadly hit and run on the BW Parkway…

Police investigating the deadly hit and run of a father who was changing a flat tire on the Baltimore Washington Parkway say they have recovered what they believe is the vehicle involved in the accident. You may recall this story, the 911 operator was demoted after telling the teenage daughter of the victim, who witnesses her father being struck to quote “stop whining”. The victims fiance who was also hit is still recovering from two broken legs, a broken pelvis and a fractured skull. Investigators say they are talking to a person of interest in the case.

Arizona Police are reporting that the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer was arrested for soliciting a prostitute and assault. According to police Sapp offered two women $600 to perform sex acts and he recorded one of those acts on his cell phone, afterwards one of the women demanded more money and a fight ensued.
