Heavy snow expected today…..

The entire WHUR listening area is under a “Winter Storm Advisory” until tonight. We are expecting the heaviest snow fall between Noon and 4 p.m. We are looking for 4 to 6 inches of snow when its all said and done tonight.

DC’s Mayor issues a “Snow Emergency” ….

The District of Columbia is under a “Snow Emergency”. This mean anyone parked on snow emergency routes you face being ticketed and towed at your expense. The fee up to $250.

Transportation options in the midst of the storm…

As of right now, metro rail is running on schedule, Metro bus is operating on a modified schedule and Metro access has been canceled for the day. If you opt to use a cab don’t forget that they will add a $15 snow emergency surcharge to your bill.

Former DC Mayor Marion Barry did not have a will….

The “Washington City Paper” is reporting that Former DC Mayor Marion Barry did not have a will. The paper sites court documents that show he left about 16-thousand dollars in assets and about 60-thousand dollars in unpaid taxes. He did not list an heir. There’s also questions over who will receive the royalties from his memoir “Mayor for Life”.
