DC’s Mayor announces free college classes at HU for are students…

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson and Howard University President Wayne Frederick announced a big change as it pertains to access to higher education for DC students. Starting next Fall students at Banneker and McKinley Tech will be able to take college course at Howard University for free. The credit will go on their high school record and be transferrable to any college of their choice.

Rushern Baker endorses Chris Van Hollen for Senate …

In Maryland, Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker has endorsed Chris Van Hollen for Senate. Baker’s constituent Donna Edwards is also running for the Senate seat that will soon be vacated by retiring Barbara Mikulski.

Peaceful protest continue in North Charleston…

Peaceful protest are underway in South Carolina this as the FBI and Justice Department looks into a North Charleston police office charged with murdering an unarmed African American. Investigators say a witness has come forward with a cell phone video that show that 50 year old Water Scott was running from him and not threatening his life like Officer Michael Slager said. It’s believed that Scott ran because he was behind on child support payments and he didn’t want to go back to jail.

Growing up in a military family, Taylor Thomas lived overseas until she was 16 years old. She called places such as Great Britain and the Philippines home. For a time, Taylor even spoke with a British accent. Well now she resides in the DC area and for the past three years has worked as the news anchor for The Steve Harvey Morning Show on WHUR. Recently, Taylor has adopted the Washington Redskins as her most loved pro sports team.
