Mother’s who’ve lost son’s at the hands of police gather on the Hill

Mothers who have lost a child at the hands of a
police officer are on Capitol Hill this hour. They
are meeting with lawmakers to share their
stories and call for a change in the laws. Sean
Bell’s mother was among the women speaking to
leaders. Bell was the unarmed 23 years old who was
shot 50 the night before his wedding as he &
friends left a New York City strip club in 2006. At 5 the
mothers will lead a 5pm candlelight vigil
outside of the U.S. Justice Department. Bell is expected to
join the mother’s of Trayvon Martin, Micheal
Brown and others for this Saturday’s National
March Against Police Violence –organized by the
Rev Al Sharpton at Freedom Plaza.

Officials release cause of death in Gaithersburg plane crash

We now know how the 6 people involved in this
weeks fatal jet crash in Gaithersburg died. The
mother and her 6 week old and 3 year old sons
were killed by smoke inhalation. The three
people on the plane died as the result of
traumatic injuries. Officials have ruled out
engine failure and bird strikes as a cause for the

Time is running out for lawmakers to avoid a Gov’t Shutdown

A $1.1 trillion dollar bill that could fund most
of the federal government beyond Thursday is
before lawmakers in the house. Sources say the
deal reached overnight will not be voted on
until tomorrow, which will only give the senate
a few hours to make any changes, approve it or
deny it. It does appear both sides want to avoid a
government shutdown. Senate leaders upset
with President Obama’s use of executive powers
on the immigration reform bill are looking at
blocking the district’s recently approved
marijuana law.
