A Naval Midship from our area is among the dead from last nights Amtrak derailment…

The U.S. Naval Academy is not releasing the name of the person killed last night on Amtrak train 188 that derailed in North Philadelphia. Officials are however confirmed the loss of life. The death toll is at 6, there are some passengers unaccounted for so the numbers could go up. Six are in critical condition and 140 had to be taken to the hospital. The Mayor has confirmed the “black box” has been found and is being analyzed by investigators. Amtrak is running limited service from Union Station to Philadelphia.

Police in Prince George’s County are investigating a Quintuple shooting last night…

There’s been no arrest in last nights shooting of 5 men in Capitol Heights. One person has died. The victims have not been identified. The shootings happened in the 47-hundred block of Pard Road.

UDC has a new President…

The University of The District of Columbia has a new leader at the helm. Ronald Mason Jr has been named the President. He joins our area from Southern University where he served as President. His first day on the job is July 1st.
