Irma Takes Aim At Florida

At least ten people are dead after Hurricane Irma smashed into a string of Caribbean islands and more than a million have no power in Puerto Rico. The most powerful Atlantic storm in a decade took direct aim at the tiny island of Barbuda, and thousands are homeless on the island territories of St. Martin and St. Bart. The National Weather Service projects Irma will make landfall near Miami sometime Sunday morning as a Category 4 hurricane. Florida Governor Rick Scott says deadly storm surges and life-threatening winds could impact both sides of the coast.

Student Robbed After Getting Off Bus

The mother of a middle school student in Prince George’s County said her son was robbed after being dropped off at the wrong bus stop Tuesday afternoon. The woman alleges she was never told what bus the 12-year-old Gholson Middle School student should have boarded. Due to the error, the boy was let off near Eastern and Kenilworth Avenues. The intersection is near the D.C. border and roughly two miles from the child’s home. It’s unclear what items were stolen or whether the boy was injured. The mother tells “The Washington Post” the school’s principle has apologized.

Trump Jr. Taking Questions On Russia Probe

Donald Trump Jr. is taking questions behind closed doors in regards to the Russia investigation. The younger Trump is talking with the staff of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He is being pressed about a meeting he attended with a Russian attorney last year. The meeting was billed as a chance to get some dirt on Hillary Clinton. Trump Jr. later dismissed the meeting as a waste of time.

Dick Gregory Funeral

Funeral services are set for activist and comedian Dick Gregory.  Services will be held on Saturday, September 16th at the City of Praise Ministries in Landover, Maryland. Gregory died last month at the age of 84.
